Mobb Deep prepares first Post-G-Unit release

When 50 Cent signed Mobb Deep to G-Unit Records, it was an obvious power play. Despite all of the moves 50 Cent had made, not many people took him serious as a businessman. It took him adding an established artist to establish himself.

Signing Mobb Deep was a major power play on 50 Cent's part, but it eventually backfired. G-Unit Records was too big to support itself. After branching out, the label had too many feuds going on.

Even though G-Unit was home to Mobb Deep, they were falling from grace. Their 2006 album, Blood Money, was a flop and it led to them being dropped. The deal had nothing to do with 50 Cent, as Interscope forced the move.

With no hard feelings, 50 Cent and Mobb Deep have maintained a close relationship. But, Mobb Deep has decided they will hit the independent circuit before searching for a label. Havoc said sometimes it is important to do things without major help. The duo will release an EP and if it receives the right response, they will follow with an album and shop for a label, more than likely G-Unit.
